The copper silver mystery.
I thought I should post a routine I have been using for some time now.
It will take a bit of audience control and I will present it in two forms, the routine involves showing a half dollar and placing it in the spectators hand and showing a copper penny in your hand, the hand being closed turned over and the coin pushed out into pinch position whereby it has changed into a half dollar, on asking the spectator to open there hand they find they have the English penny, which you take from them as they react to what has just happened, the two coins once transferred to the other hand can be passed out for examination.
The second version uses a scotch and soda set as the top change coin, the copper changes place with the half and the end result is two halfs on top of the hand and a copper in the spectators hand.
The effect for version one needs two coper / silver coins which can be fairly displayed on your open hand you ask a spectator to put there hand palm down at about waist level assuming your standing and openly place the half side up into there palm and close there hand into a fist placing the copper side on top of there hand, this prevents them from opening there hand prematurely and demonstrates that there is only two coins in use as you can casually show both hands empty.
You pick up the coin and place it on your open hand in finger palm position, push it up into classic finger thumb pinch position, making sure to keep it level with the ground, pull it back to finger palm position.
The next is a classic copper silver transfer move, by placing your upturned hand over there's and turning it palm down as you push the coin into view the first transformation is achieved, this gives you ample time to retrieve your real half and false transfer it as you place it on the spectators other hand.
The next move needs some timing to get it to flow without tipping the secret, you need to grab the spectators hand as you place the real half on there other hand, after ditching your first copper silver, this allows you to control there hand and stop it opening prematurely and also allows you to turn the half over in there hand to show it is real.
Next you need to retrieve your real copper coin, placing each at elbow joint and sleeving them when required is a good way to go, you then turn there hand palm up and ask them to open there hand, pause a beat for the reaction to set in and pick up the coin into finger palm position whilst dropping the real copper coin from classic palm to join the real half, ditch the second copper / silver and you are left clean and they have two coins, In practice most people will forget you held / controlled there hand.
The second version is much easier to perform yet still packs the same punch, the first part is the same, the second part involves having a real half classic palmed, the scotch set is placed on the spectators hand and is covered and the classic palmed coin is dropped onto the back of the hand to replace the copper coin, the rest follows as stated above.
Addendum.
One way to eliminate one of the copper silvers is two do a palm change which i believe David Roth talked about in one of his lectures, showing the half them classic palming that one as you place the copper in there palm down hand, similar to what is done with the strike penny change on back of hand.
This also could eliminate the need for any copper / silver coins if you used a shaved penny and an expanded shell, but then that's a different trick altogether.
